I will always think of the month of June as “Father’s Day” celebrations! I’m grateful to have been raised by a godly father who left me precious memories of our times together. When I was a teenager, he had a weekly radio program and I accompanied his singing on the piano and organ. I shared about him in both of my VESSELS OF HONOR books.
When Patty Rose held “The Journey Seminars” inside Women’s Prisons, I usually taught the subject of “The Father’s Love.” It is a delight to share highlights of this teaching on Earlene’s Corner today.
God IS LOVE. He wanted sons and daughters to love. YOU were created for love! Genesis 1:26,27 says that God created man in “His own image” with the capacity to love. He wants us to reflect His love to others, so He chose the “Family” to accomplish His purpose. God is our “Heavenly Father,” the Head of our family.
This may be difficult to understand if you have broken relationships with your authority figure here on earth. The word may bring pain, loneliness, bitterness or anger to your mind. If your parents were not there for you, it may even seem impossible to believe there is a Heavenly Father who loves you and will ALWAYS be there for you. JESUS came to show us what our Heavenly Father is like. In John 10:10, Jesus said “The thief does not come except to steal, kill and destroy, but I am come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.”
God the Father has always loved you. He has BOTH “Father and Mother love” to give you. He has the qualities of strength, protection and compassion like a good father. He has the gentle tenderness, selflessness, comfort and nurturing qualities of a mother. You can feel free to come to your Heavenly Father, open your heart to His love, and experience His own “embrace.” Each time you sense the presence of God, it is always about HIS love. The power of God’s love will give you meaning and purpose. YOU were created to receive His love…so YOU Can give it to others…and find fulfillment in your life.
