Sometimes it is wise to look back and SEE what GOD taught us in life’s hard places. During 1980’s, my life drastically changed. I enjoyed volunteering for the Chaplain, but realized I must support myself. Suddenly life was so difficult. But God had a plan for a job that brought me balance and joy… I taught Piano at Private Schools in Long Beach!
Several older children wanted to learn popular songs. I treasure one simple Song titled “LEAN ON Me”, for it encouraged me the rest of my life! Apostle Paul says in Galatians 6:2 “Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” I learned to stop thinking about all my problems and try to focus on helping others around me. May these Lyrics have special meaning for you also.
“Lean on me, when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on, For it won’t be long, ‘til I’m gonna need Somebody to lean on.”
While playing piano at prison, the women taught me another favorite Song titled “I woke up this morning with my mind STAYED on Jesus.” I KNEW what it meant! Original Hebrew text says the word STAYED is to “place or lay something upon an object so that it rests upon, and is totally supported by that object.”
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is STAYED on Thee, because he trusts in Thee.” Isaiah 26:3
When we “lean on Jesus” with an ATTITUDE of our mind, we give Him our doubts and questions. We experience HIS PEACE daily as our thoughts and words always “lean” on His Promises. We learn to trust His Word that “all things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28.
