God is always speaking to His children. His plans are good, NOT evil. We spare ourselves unnecessary troubles when we learn to listen and obey. A sermon by Pastor Sheri reminded me of this childhood story:
“Oh, Grandma! “What kind of pillow is this? It is so soft!” The Child snuggled her head into a tiny pillow which Grandmother just finished sewing together. “It is a pillow stuffed with feathers. I will show you what it means later”.
A few days passed and Grandmother asked the Child to bring the pillow and come outdoors with her. She snipped the end of the pillow with a pair of small scissors, and let some white feathers escape. They slowly drifted in the breeze around them. Grandmother said, “Now go and catch as many feathers as you can and bring them back to me.”
Beginning to cry, the Child spoke, “You know I can NEVER do that! They are flying away in the wind. It is impossible to do!”
As she hugged the Child near to her, she softly spoke. “Those feathers are like the WORDS we speak every day of our lives. We can NEVER catch them and bring them back again.”
Proverbs 21:23 NKJV “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.”
