Many people Love to “go fishing” in summer! Although I am NOT one of them, I am glad to share a spiritual truth on fishing that is worth trying.
“Master, we have fished all the night and have taken nothing; nevertheless at Thy word, I will let down the net.” Luke 5:5
If anyone knew how to fish, it was Peter. He knew their habits, where & when to look for them and how to catch them. One day, along came a Carpenter who tells him to do things contrary to good fishing practice! He asked him to fish during the brightest time of day…in the center of the lake instead of along the shore. As one of the closest followers of Jesus, Peter had witnessed the miraculous power of His “Words” spoken over people and situations. The words seemed contrary now in this situation, but Peter obediently responded: “We will try it again YOUR way.” God’s way worked! His way and His Word will work for us too.
My Pastors encourage us to daily ask: “Lord, what do YOU want ME to DO today? As I am obedient, I find new purposes, joy and satisfaction in this time of my life.
Perhaps God has given YOU a new idea to share with others? Or He may show YOU how to solve a problem, but you are afraid to try? What about unfulfilled dreams YOU could still pursue? If we will follow Peter’s example, we just might discover that God still has fresh assignments for each of us!
LET’S GO FISHING!
Proverbs 3:5-8
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, in all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.”
