I treasure the “spiritual seeds” my Evangelist Grandmother planted into me as a child. She made Bible stories come alive! She told stories from a book written by her Missionary friend, Mrs. Cowman. Both are filled with spiritual TRUTHS that brought me safely through life’s hard places. I learned to TRUST God’s plans for me. I still face new challenges, but I can say like Caleb “Give me my mountain!”
When we pray for others, we can plant “seeds of hope” into their lives. Let us continue to ASK largely and EXPECT God to answer our prayers. Be encouraged with this reminder from “Streams in the Desert Devotional” by Mrs. Cowman:
“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower,
and will watch to see what He will say unto me.” Habakkuk 2:1
“There is no waiting on God for help, and there is no help from God without watchful expectation on our part. Watch for God in the events of your life! Unless you put out your water jars, when it rains, you will catch no water. Those men who come to the Bank in earnest…present their checks, wait until they receive their gold, and then they go; but not without transacting real business. Our heavenly Father would have us do real business with Him in our prayers. C.H. Spurgeon.”
Perhaps we might ask, “But what if the answer is NOT what we expected?” We can rest assured that GOD SEES ahead. We discover that HE will never disappoint us.
2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look NOT at the things which are seen,
but at the things which are not seen;
for the things which are NOT SEEN are ETERNAL.”
